The dark brings romance...and death.Loneliness has clouded Amber Addaire's life, but now she's ready for a change. After a complete makeover still leaves her unhappy, it's only when she starts dreaming of an oddly familiar - and extremely handsome - man that she begins to feel happiness.Trace Elkson is a spirit stuck on earth long enough to let his childhood friend, Amber Addaire, know how much she meant to him before he died. He can't tell her what he is, or that he's watching over her. He can only communicate with her through her dreams and hopes she will eventually realize who he is. In the dream realm, Amber falls in love with Trace but can she figure out who he is and join him before his spirit is forced to move on?

Dreaming of Him edition by Wendy Ely Literature Fiction eBooks

I liked this 3 chapter book. I like that the main character Amber was somewhat damaged; it made me feel sorry for her. Wendy Ely had a talent with characterization. I understood the characters' motives, and all the personalities fleshed out, making it feel like I knew everyone in the story (even the supporting characters). Her job at Rich Chick reminded me of the show Jerseylicious. I'm a sucker for romance, so the entire time I was hoping that one day Amber and Trace could meet in real life.

My favorite lines were 1) Can you imagine finding your long lost friend? (something about that question got me thinking about my childhood friends and how we didn't keep in touch) 2) While most people feared death, I welcomed the darkness 3) Sometimes rushing things ruin the situation (I admired Trace's patience)

All the dream sequences were in italics, and sometimes the same phrase was repeated throughout one scene. For example, the story kept expressing that Amber wanted to meet Trace in person and why couldn't she stop drinking so the dream entryway wouldn't be blocked. Sometimes I wished the scene would just play out instead of keep reminding the reader of the same things.

I loved that Amber's mom was the key to unlocking the secret of Trace's identity. Not only do I enjoy romance, but I also enjoy mystery, especially when the author reveals the answer by the end of the book.

I RECOMMEND this book to read.

Dreaming of Him edition by Wendy Ely Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

What a lovely read. This is a novella but packed with emotion. The meetings between Trace and Amber in the dream world were so touching, and the story of Trace's tough childhood so sad. The author kept me guessing how the story would end and it was not how I expected.
Dreaming of Him was a wonderful story! I love the connection between Amber and Trace. This story was full of emotion. The love they share shows that through life and death you can love someone completely! If you love paranormal and romance. I would definitely suggest this book! It's a small tale, but one that you won't forget! Wendy Ely did a wonderfully magical job with this book! Kudos!
Wendy Ely spins an engaging tale about love and loss. This story is about a deep loving friendship that lasts beyond your imagination and carries over into the here and now. I always enjoy reading this author's novels and look forward to hearing she has a new release even though I know it will keep me reading well into the night. If you haven't read this book yet, or checked out this author's work, I highly recommend her. You're in for a special treat!
An unusual romance between a man and a woman who meet only in dreams.

Everyone wants to fit in especially when we are young. But sometimes, in our desire to have friendships and a social circle, we try out different groups. Finding our own path to happiness can be difficult. For our protagonist, Amber, even a total make-over isn't enough for her to find her place in the world. Having suffered more than the usual teen aged angst, and all the problems that go with it, Amber is now an adult trying to find her own path.

Her job is unsatisfying, her friends not compatible and her mother is trying to micro manage her by telephone. The only time things seem okay to Amber is in her dreams. Of course the fact she is dreaming of a handsome man who gives her the attention she lacks may have something to do with it.

But which is real? Her life she lives everyday or the world of her dreams? Well I can't tell you that can I? You will have to read the novella to find out for yourself.

Read time about an hour

Parents Little Black Book
While awake, Amber is a very lonely woman and her life is at a dead-end. Nothing can make her feel better, not even a makeover, but it's different when she's asleep. A man from her past, Trace, enters her dreams and sweeps her off her feet. When Amber wakes up, she realizes that it was a dream (a very hot one), because she knows that Trace is dead. He tries to communicate with Amber through her dreams and watches over her, wanting her to know just how much she meant to him before he died. His spirit moves her keys so she won't be late for work and turns off the lights when she comes home drunk, closing her eyes, aching to be with him. Only in her dreams, can they fall in love with one another, but he won't let her go out the easy way to be with him! That's when he saves her from making a big mistake...

Admit it, you can't stop staring at the cover, can you? Neither can I! When I won this book, I was thrilled. Wanting to take break from my normal reads one weekend, I began reading Dreaming of Him. Right away, I was drawn into a whole new world. Wendy Ely's descriptions were written so clear, that I felt as if I were Amber, wanting to dream of Trace! The storyline was believable, especially for a woman like Amber, who has very little confidence. I loved Trace! He was gentle and he didn't give up on Amber. While I wish this book wasn't so short, I loved it because it wasn't the typical romance book with spirits or ghosts -- it's a true love story! If you're looking for a sweet, spicy book over the summer, this is the book for you!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
